F4 Phantom II

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

Retired in 1996, the supersonic F4 Phantom II fighter-bomber’s first flight was on February 17, 1967. One of the greatest combat aircraft ever, the Phantom was truly amazing. Used first in the US Navy, the Phantom proved faster than the F-104 Starfighter. That brought the US Air force in. Both the Navy and the Airforce ordered them. That’s probably the leading cause to making the F4 the most numerous supersonic fighter ever, with 5,195 built. With two Rolls-Royce 20,515Ib Afterburning thrust spey 202 turbofans, this aircraft’s top speed was around 1,473mph! That’s totally supersonic! Did you know that in the Vietnam War, 528 Phantoms were lost? Wow, that’s a lot! Also, did you know that The Blue Angels used F4s? Amazing! The Phantom has also set a record. In 1962, A F4 set a Time-To-Climb record of about 9,000 meters! That’s so many meters! Dimensions, dimensions, dimensions. The wingspan of the F4 is 38ft, 4in, and the length is 58ft, 2in. There you go. The F4 phantom II, at large.

This is me on the USS Midway with a F4 Phantom. There are 2 Photos.
